Reading is free and anonymous. If you create an account, we store your email, profile details, and — to power features like reading history, streaks and recommendations — a record of the articles you open and how far you read them. This reading data is used only for those features and to improve recommendations; it is never sold or shared with advertisers.

If you take part in a poll, answer an issue question, appreciate an article, or write a note to the editors, those responses are stored with your account and are read only by the editorial team. They are never shown publicly — an answer to an issue question may be quoted in a future issue only if you tick the consent box when submitting it.

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting the editors. A full policy will be published before accounts launch.
